Automatic Ice Cream Makers
Our take on the automatic
ice cream makers that promise ease of use, but are they right
for you?
Well automatic ice cream makers are of
numerous types but primarily there are only three main
types of them. Each automatic ice cream maker consists of
an electric motor which is sometimes used to drive the
bowl or paddles to mix the solution, depending upon the
model. The method of performing the cooling is the main
difference between these three types. All the three types
of automatic ice cream makers are detailed
below:
·

make use of a bowl having two walls which contains a
solution that freeze up below the freezing point of water
between those two walls. You need to freeze it in the
freezer before 24 hours of making ice cream. At the time
it freezes, the bowl is placed into the machine, the
constituents are added and the machine is turned on. The
propellers start to rotate; mix the solution as it slowly
solidifies all the way through the process due to contact
with the frozen bowl. After the time of 25 to 35 minutes,
you will see that the solution flanked by the double
walls of the bowl has melted, and the ice cream has
frozen. The benefit of this type of electric machine is
that it is extremely low at cost and is generally under
$90. The drawback of this pre-frozen bowl approach is
that merely one group can be completed at a time and in
order to prepare one more group, the bowl has to be
frozen again. Due to this reason, it is typically
promising to purchase an additional bowl for the machine,
but certainly these are going to engage in a large amount
of freezer space. (See image below for an
example).

·
The second one is small freezer component
machines. They are usually placed inside the freezer (or
can also be placed in the freezer section of any
refrigerator), and function in slow motion just like a
food processor. The propellers twist after a matter of
seconds in order to mix the solution for an adequate
amount of times to avoid huge ice crystals from forming.
At the time your ice cream has frozen adequately, the
propellers mechanically discontinue rotating and then
lift up. As the solution is frozen just being in the
freezer, it acquires a bit longer period of time in order
to freeze up as compared to other kinds of ice cream
makers, in which a direct contact between the cooling
element and the ice cream bowl is present. A drawback if
this type of ice cream maker is that the freezer door has
to be closed over the flat wire, which is plugged into
the adjacent power source outside, despite the fact that
some latest refrigerators have an in built ice cream
maker as an extra accomplice or a dedicated electrical
plug for use with definite freezer unit equipments. This
kind of ice cream maker has a benefit that no
pre-freezing of the machine is essential. On the other
hand, some individuals believe that this kind of
appliance prepares an inferior quality ice cream for the
reason that it has got a slow motion method. It is also
probable to get cordless ice cream maker which is
operated by a battery so that it can be positioned
directly in the freezer, despite the fact that these ice
cream makers have a tendency to have need of costly
non-rechargeable lithium batteries (the performance of
most of the rechargeable batteries or regular alkaline
cells is very weak at low temperature).
·
The third and the last type of automatic
ice cream maker is additional costly, as well as much
bigger, this type have a freezing device in built and
there is no requirement of a bowl to be pre-chilled
before making ice cream. The cooling mechanism is turned
on, you just need to switch on the machine and everything
is done automatically. This type is not very practical
for making small batches of ice cream at home - maybe if
you were going to entertain a large group.
